A vintage electrical outlet frames the upper portion of this piece — one socket holds a faceted French chandelier crystal, refracting a hidden photograph into fragments of color and light; the other holds a young girl's portrait, cropped close, mid-smile. Below, a vintage cabinet card photograph of a seated young man is fitted with a found bicycle sprocket in place of his face — its toothed edge ringed with scraps of antique advertising text: 16 Colors. Color Products. Hue Color Pattern. Medium Blended.
Handwritten found text runs along the side of the box, faint and half-legible, adding a whispered narration to the piece. Part mechanical, part sentimental — the gear replaces a face the way memory replaces detail, precise on the edges and blank in the center.
